This unfinished portrait portrays Mathew Harris Jouett’s niece and nephew. There were several unfinished portraits when Matthew Jouett died; in fact, art historians study them to determine his method of painting. The little girl grew up to marry possibly the second most famous Kentucky portrait painter, Oliver Frazier, who was a student of Matthew Jouett.
