Updates From the House

The Jack Jouett House is always ready to host groups of any size! On July 19th, we welcomed the Woodford County Women’s Club. They were such a welcoming (and knowledgable!) group of ladies. We toured the Jouett home and finished off the day with an amazing lunch at the Woodford Club’s Jack Jouett Tavern. I recommend the Southwest Chicken Salad! If you would like to schedule a group tour or reserve a meeting space, please email us at info@jouetthouse.org

On July 21st, we hosted another Night of Music at the Jouett House! The Will Padgett Trio and Dean Phelps impressed us with their musical talent as we enjoyed ice cream and grilled out on the lawn. Both of our Nights of Music were very well attended. In fact, we welcomed over 150 guests! Special thanks to the Padgett family, Dean, and all of you who attended. We look forward to more music next year!

On July 29th, we continued our Brunch & Learn Series with a guest lecture from Eric Brooks! Eric is the Curator and Site Manager of Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate. His presentation, Henry Clay in 25 Objects, was both informative and highly entertaining. Huge thanks to Eric and everyone who attended! These events have been so fun and we cannot wait to host more in the future. Stay tuned!

On August 11th, we partnered with Elemental Yoga & Wellness to present Yoga under the Moon! This is our second year partnering with Elemental Yoga and we couldn’t be happier. We’ve already scheduled a few more events in the fall, make sure to check those out and sign up below. Carrie, owner and instructor at Elemental Yoga, has some big ideas for next year too!

Big Changes Coming to the Jouett House and Your Opportunity to Help!

If you have been following along with us on social media, you know that we are making some big changes to the guest experience at the Jouett House! These include updates to the Visitor Center and grounds. Make sure to keep reading, because we need your help to make our dream a reality!

We recently began renovations on our Visitor Center deck. These include new slip-resistant decking, new rails, and new picnic tables! Once completed, this will be a great place for our visitors to eat lunch, visit with each other, and enjoy the beautiful scenery that surrounds the house. It may already be completed the next time you visit us!

Workers from Woodford County build a new and improved deck at the Jouett House Visitor Center.

As you may have already noticed, we recently partnered with Cole Tanner and Troop 43 out of Versailles, KY. Cole is working towards his Eagle Scout and generously chose to benefit the Jouett House! Once completed, this walking bridge will link up with our walking trail and will allow our guests to explore the back half of the property. If all goes to plan, we should be able to open this trail in the fall!

Cole Tanner and the Boy Scouts from Troop 43 have almost completed a new walking bridge that will connect to our new walking trail. Thank you Troop 43!

Lastly, we have recently contracted with Pannier Graphics to bring two new outdoor signs to the Jouett House! Pannier is a very well-regarded company and we’re so glad to be working with them. In fact, they designed and built the signs at Shaker Village and have also worked with many national parks! These new signs will give guests the opportunity to learn about and explore the Jouett House even when we’re closed during the winter. You can view an example of their work below. We’re already halfway to our fundraising goal for this project, but we need your help! Just a small donation will help to alleviate the cost and ensure an improved guest experience at the Jouett House for years to come. If you would like to donate, please click on the link here. Thank you!

Guests at Shaker Village read an outdoor sign built by Pannier Graphics. We need your help to build two similar signs at the Jack Jouett House.
